The Ouroboros (also spelled Uroboros) is a symbol of rebirth and the never-ending cycle of life. Either depicted as a snake or a dragon eating its own tail, this symbol is most commonly associated with ancient Egyptian and Hellenistic Greek iconography. Other cultures in which the Ouroboros (or similar equivalents) have been found include Norse (Jörmungandr), Hindu (in relation to Samsara and the Kundalini), Judaic (Leviathan), and Gnostic (described by name in the Pistis Sophia).
