The phoenix is a very recognizable mythological creature associated with rebirth, being born again from its ashes once it dies. "Phoenix: Reborn from Fire" is my contemporary rendition of this creature, a passion project in which I wanted to emphasize the touch of fire in the metalsmithing process. This piece was forged from fold-formed copper and brass, a process that requires constant annealing with heat, and vibrantly patinated with the bare copper's natural reaction to flame.
